Import/Export Coordinator

We are seeking an Import/Export Coordinator to join our Manufacturing client in Bradford. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of goods internationally, minimising the risk of delays to import/export shipments, and maintaining accurate proof of export/import in line with HMRC requirements.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Process export/import shipments, including confirming tracking numbers, vessel/flight details, and issuing final customs documents to customers and clearing agents.
- Arrange customs clearance where necessary and confirm final packing details for customer collections.
- Liaise with suppliers for pre-shipment advice and document checks.
- Proactively advise customers on shipment issues and liaise with them on underweight shipments to determine further actions.
- Identify and check commodity codes for accuracy and enter completed shipments into the Shipping database.
- Issue necessary supporting documents such as shipping instructions, clearance instructions, packing lists, and certificates/declarations of origin.
- Handle the processing of non-sales shipments for other departments and log carrier issues in the Error Log database for performance monitoring.
- Maintain up-to-date UK shipment records and Shipping database, including filing UK/Export manifests and invoicing carriage to customers when required.
- Chase carriers for ETAs or updates on delayed shipments and book in consignments as required by customers.
- Process Proof of Export/Import by ensuring all documentation meets VAT and HMRC requirements, querying any discrepancies, and ensuring complete documentation is in place.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in an import/export coordination role.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements for international shipping and familiarity with HMRC regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in coordinating with multiple stakeholders including suppliers, customers, and carriers.
- Proficient in using shipping and logistics databases.
